Haneyya gov’t asks Cairo to facilitate entry of miles of smiles

 The government of Ismail Hnaeyya has asked the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the entry of the European aid convoy miles of smiles that has been stranded off the Egyptian harbor of Port Said for two weeks.

Taher Al-Nunu, the government’s spokesman, told a press conference with the participation of Hamdy Shaat, the head of the government committee to break the siege, on Thursday that the government was closely following up the issue.

He noted that the convoy mainly comprises medical assistance especially to the disabled children and is accompanied by 100 foreign activists from ten European countries.

Nunu said that his government would continue to try and persuade the Egyptian leadership to allow access for this convoy, and called for more such convoys to the beleaguered people of Gaza.
