Haniyyah Calls On Obama to Back Palestinians’ Right to Liberty and Independence

In a congratulatory message to the new American President Barack Obama, Palestinian PM Ismail Haniyyah called on Obama to support the right of the Palestinian people to liberty and independence just like other people around the world did.

“I am happy to join the world in congratulating you on this day which history will remember as a victory for the humanitarian struggle for freedom in our modern history, not only America”s,” Haniyyah said.

“Your inauguration means the sovereignty of the values of equality over oppression and humanitarianism over fanaticism, as the struggle to achieve justice knows neither nationality nor boundaries,” Haniyyah added.

“We join you with our voices in your journey towards change; a change that will bring justice for all people.  No one can blame you if you don”t attain justice for all people, but you will no doubt blamed if you don”t repel oppression,” Haniyyah continued.

Haniyyah explained that the Palestinians have traveled the road of freedom alongside the people of South Africa and America in their struggle for liberty, freedom from slavery, and attainment of justice, pointing out that they will not be satisfied as long as they remain victims of the brutal terrorist occupation.

Similarly, Haniyyah emphasized that he can never feel satisfied as long as Palestinians are deprived of all their human rights secured to every one in America and any other place in the free world

Haniyyah further emphasized that the killing of 1330 and wounding of 5500 at the hands of Israeli occupational forces throughout the war on Gaza were not because of their political views, but because they are Palestinians calling for freedom.
