Head of Evangelical Church in Egypt: Morsi Win Egypt’s First Democratic Experience
Dr. Safwat Al-Bayadi, head of the Evangelical Church in Egypt, said that the success of Dr. Morsi is the first experience of democracy in Egypt’s history, pointing out that the ballot-box has to be respected, "We must stand together behind the majority. That is democracy".
In a phone call to the ‘AlShaab Yorid’ (the people want) TV program on the satellite channel ‘Tahrir’, Al-Bayadi added that: "Our duty is to rally around the president and pray for his success. The next stage is very important, for the economic and security. It also demands a lot of things. So, we must support and pray for our President".
Al-Bayadi further said, "We have no ‘sectarian’ demands. But we do want to see the goals of January 25 revolution achieved: Bread, Freedom, Social Justice. These are the aspirations of all the people, men, women, Muslims and Christians. Egyptians are all equal. We cannot differentiate or discriminate between them on grounds of religion or sex".
