Health ministry warns of humanitarian disaster in Gaza
GAZA, — Palestinian health ministry has warned of a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip as a result of the continued power outages that threaten the stoppage of hundreds of medical equipments in the coming two days.
The ministry in a statement on Tuesday said that the electric current is a necessity for patients in hospitals whether in the intensive care units, kidney wards, kidney dialysis, incubators, and others.
It highlighted that the lives of those patients depend on stable power supply to the machines that help them survive, noting that the acute fuel shortage cripples even the generators used by hospitals during power outages.
The ministry appealed to all local and international institutions to immediately intervene to allow entry of enough fuel quantities to hospitals, and appealed to the Gaza electricity company to spare hospitals of the power outages.
