Upper-Egypt’s renowned city, Luxor, hosted a conference entitled “National dialogue to Support the Tourism Industry” attended by Minister of State for Antiquities; the governors of Luxor, Qena and South Sinai, as well as a number of political party leaders, including Helmi Al-Gazzar and Moez Farouk, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leaders; Nader Bakkar and Amr Farouk, Nour Party leaders; Ahmed El-Khadem, of Wafd Party; Ahmed Ragab and Nader Sharqawi, of Free Egyptians Party; Yahya Abul-Hassan, of Centre Party; and Mustafa Al-Gendi, of the Constitution Party; in addition to a large number of leaders of the security and tourism sector.
Dr. Helmi Al-Gazzar, FJP leader, said: “Egypt is not governed by the Taliban. No-one will demolish the pyramids and the Sphinx or cover statues with wax. The FJP will support and assist the tourism sector in Egypt, by all available means, to get out of its current crisis.
Nader Bakkar, media spokesman for the Nour Party, affirmed that advocates of extremist ideas exist in all societies, including European countries. But mass media highlights and focuses on such extremists in our societies, and thus deceives the world into believing that all Egyptians embrace extremism.
