Human Rights Organization Warns Against Bar Association’s Elections Forgery

Swanseya Centre for Human Rights and Combating Discrimination warned against the continuous intervention of the government in the elections of the Bar Association and attempts to politicize it, emphasizing that this is a prelude to forgery, for certain lists to gain the required votes.

Sawaseya added in a statement the government has succeeded by that in nationalising the Bar Association which always troubled the government as it was a free forum for Egyptian citizens from which they used to face the hegemony of the executive authority over other authorities.

The statement referred to the exclusion of Mokhtar Noah, Khaled Badawi and others from the final list of candidates in the elections of the Association to be held on 23rd May, is a completion of the government’s intervention in many professions unions and associations in Egypt, especially after turning to be an opposition to the government and its policies.

Sawaseya Centre called the ruling system for the immediate halt to the security intervention in the different association’s elections in order to avoid the explosion of many categories of the Egyptian people, which would complicate things in the future.
