IAF Criticizes Statements of Iraqi Gov’t Spokesman
The Iraqi Accordance Front (IAF) condemned statements issued by spokesman of the Iraqi government. The government spokesman responded to the Iraqi Accordance Front statement in which it threatened with withdrawing its ministers within a week after suspending its participation in Al-Maliki”s government .
The Accordance Front said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb, that such an attitude shouldn”t be issued from a party that claims to be protecting and defending the political process in Iraq. As for us, we will remain honest to our pledges of behaving within constitutional rules and according to democratic criteria whatever the limits of the provocation. We have the right to remain in or leave the government but no one has the right to prevent us from doing this right through threats or blackmail.
Press Statement
Issued by Iraqi Accordance Front (IAF)
Around statements of the Iraqi government spokesman
Iraqi government spokesman issued on July, 27th, 2007, a 14-paragraph statement in which he responds to the statement of the Iraqi Accordance Front in which it threatened with withdrawing its ministers within week unless government shows indications that it will implement demands approved by the political blocs.
The Accordance Front sees this response as a personal attitude from the Prime Minister, not the government, because the government hasn”t discussed the stated response. This is a new violation committed by the Prime Minister who neglects and sidelines those concerned with discussing such sensitive issues. Unlike the attitude of our brothers in the United Iraqi Alliance (UIA), the Kurdish coalition who understood our demands, the Prime Minister”s response was passive and provocative as usual. The Prime Minister is seemingly not concerned with the reservations and complaints which we mentioned in the statement. Consequently, he has no plans for solving the current situation and courageously bear his responsibility to correct mistakes. The PM is simply closing doors of reform. Thus, the Accordance Front will have to go ahead in its plan for withdrawing from the government in the date it defined, after giving the Prime Minister a sufficient time to reconsider his attitudes.
On the other hand, the Accordance Front stops short of being dragged to any verbal scuffle that may hurt any person, while facing a national issue at a very sensitive time. The IAF doesn”t need to dismiss groundless claims and lies. It doesn”t need to improve the image of national iconic figures whose history is well known for every one. If the government and those driving it to wrong directions are convinced of their good performance, justice and patriotism, then let this government include members who praise its attitudes and policies nationwide. All Iraqis are fed up with this government that deny the country even a glimpse of hope.
The Prime Minister”s attitude was not that strange because we got used to such attitudes during the past 1 1/2 years. He is the very one who made us take the latest attitude after giving him severl chances which he ignored, using hollow promises and procrastinations. We expect something serious specially after this underlying threat for which he should be brought to trial. He said:
( and the millions that went to ballot boxes challenging terrorism and terrorists, whatever their names, will not sit in their houses watching this)
Such an attitude shouldn”t be issued from a party that claims to be protecting and defending the political process in Iraq. As for us, we will remain honest to our pledges of behaving within constitutional rules and according to democratic criteria whatever the limits of the provocation. We have the right to remain in or leave the government but no one has the right to prevent us from doing this right through threats or blackmail.
However, the IAF will be open to wise men who are keen on the stability of Iraq. It expects such wise men to intervene and wisely tackle such legitimate demands included the IAF”s statement and can be considered a national roadmap for salvation .
May Allah Guide us all to Truth and keep us on the straight path
