Infringements Detected before the 2nd phase of  Election

Although criticism stalked to the government, the National Democratic Party, and security bodies upon the conventions committed during the first phase of the Parliamentary election, it seems that violations will be a dominating feature of the second stage of the parliamentary election.

The reporters of Saosia – means equals in Arabic – Center for Human Right detected numerous frauds committed in the nine governorates in which the second phase of the parliamentary election will be held on Nov.20th.

For instance, many names of dead people are recorded in the electoral registers of Fayoum and Suez governorates. In addition, more than 12.000 names are repeatedly registered in the electorates of Port Said and Behira governorates.

The reporters also observed attempts of State Security officers in Qina, Alex, and Port Said to hinder the candidates of the Moslem Brotherhood. In Port Said, for example, an electoral assembly, arranged on Nov.18th, was prevented though all required permissions were granted. In addition, there are constant calls for people not to elect the nominees of the Moslem Brotherhood.

The Center underlined the danger of such conventions on the fairness of the election process.
