Interior Ministry to control elections

Dr Magdy Abdel Hamid, chairman of the Egyptian Association for Community Participation Enhancement, stated that the delegation of the coalition headed on Monday to the Supreme Council for Elections to submit a file on monitoring the elections during the upcoming parliamentary polls.

He noticed the intensive security presence both inside and outside the committee.

In his statement to Ikhwanweb, he considered this as a form of negligence on the part of the Supreme Committee for Elections in playing its role and assigning it to security services and the National Council for Human Rights. He pointed out that the committee lacks the organizational structure which would enable it to take control of the elections.
He warned that these are signs indicating how the elections would be run under the control of the Ministry of Interior, with the committee playing no role even though it is supposed to be controlling the elections.

The coalition submitted requests for 906 supervisors in 50 constituencies in 21 governorates in order to have the elections supervised.
