IOA bans call for prayers in Ibrahimi mosque

AL-KHALIL,– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) banned the call to prayer in the Ibrahimi mosque in Al-Khalil, south West Bank, 50 times throughout August 2010 under the framework of a string of Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

The prayer call, which the IOA claims is an inconvenience to settlers and Jewish holidays and occasions, was particularly suppressed in the mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.

Israeli authorities have cracked down on Muslims praying in the Ibrahimi mosque and have imposed heavy military procedures at the entrances and main streets leading to the mosque.
