IOF soldiers turn Al-Khalil’s Old City into army barracks
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) turned the Old City in Al-Khalil into army barracks to protect a march for Jewish settlers near the Ibrahimi Mosque, locals reported on Sunday.
They said that the IOF troops closed a number of roads trekked by those settlers and prevented Palestinians from approaching them.
They noted that limited clashes were seen between Palestinian youths and the IOF soldiers despite the heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, IOF troops quelled a peaceful march in Beit Sahur village, Bethlehem district, on Sunday.
Local sources said that the IOF soldiers fired bullets and stun and teargas grenades at the protestors, who included foreign activists.
The march was in protest against the Israeli occupation authority’s’ attempt to judaize Islamic holy shrines and for occupying a suburb to the east of the town, locals said.
