Islamic Law is the Choice of Egyptians: MB MP

MP Ragab Abu Zeid (member of the Parliamentary bloc of Muslims brotherhood and member of legislative committee at People”s Assembly) expressed his hope that the government will show respect to the Egyptian people”s will to apply Islamic law.

Abu Zeid cited the results of a recent survey conducted by Gallup poll center which showed that 90% of Egyptians agree to the application of Islamic law.

“This expresses the real desire of the Egyptian people to make an overall reform based on Islamic legislation. They believe that it will save the people and the country from the catastrophes of poverty, corruption and tyranny which have led to much public discontent.”

Abu Zeid referred to the fact that the application of Islamic law cannot take place overnight. It needs to be reintroduced to western circles who are not familiar with a reform based on Islamic Shari”a.

A survey by Gallup American institution revealed that more than 90% of Egyptians agree to the application of the Islamic law, and two third wish to have Islamic law as the only source of legislation.
