Israel buys two nuclear subs from Germany

Germany is to sell Israel two military submarines of the “Dolphin” make capable of firing nuclear missiles, the English-language Israeli daily ’Jerusalem Post’ reported.

It said that the upgraded subs would be supplied with advanced systems allowing them to remain submerged for longer periods than those currently in service in the Israeli navy.

The paper noted that the German government would pay two thirds of the cost of the two submarines, which is estimated at 2.270 billion dollars, and added that negotiations on the deal took a long time.
