Israel calls on UN to delay Freedom Flotilla investigation
Barak maintained that he requested the United Nations to suspend plans to engage in an inquiry on Israel ‘s arrogant interception of a six-ship convoy heading to the Gaza Strip, in which nine Turks died. Lebanon had earlier asserted an aid ship bound for the Gaza Strip would sail despite warnings from Israel that it would use all necessary means to stop ships that try to sail from Lebanon to Gaza
He claimed that so long as new convoys are in the preparation, it was better to postpone the UN investigation. Barak emphasized that Israel had already established a five person panel including two foreign observers stressing that he believed it would be sufficient for the time being now describing the investigation as independent, reliable and credible
