Jail of 79 MB Detainees Prolonged
State Security Prosecutions all over Egyptian governorates prolonged on Wednesday the provisional detention of 79 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members who were detained on Thursday Feb., 15, for 15 days pending trial and released a Muslim Brotherhood detainee in Al Fayyum for health reasons .
Central and southern Cairo detainees appeared before their summary presentations; Helwan summary prosecution investigated with: accountant Mohamed Hassan the office manager of Al-Mohammedi Abdul Maqsoud – a Muslim Brotherhood member of parliament for Helwan, and Mahmoud Beltagi the office manager of MB parliamentarian Ali Fath Al Bab for city of 15the May; Ma”adi prosecution investigated with Eng. Omar Abdullah, a coordinator of a gathering of engineers against guardianship and eng. Mahmoud Douma, and Sayeda Zeinab prosecution investigated with Dr. Amr Al Huweishi and Dr. Gamal Abdul Salam.
The detainees appeared after that in front of the southern Cairo prosecution which investigated first with eng. Omar Abdullah, Dr. Amr Al Huweishi, then Dr. Gamal Abdul Salam followed by eng. Mahmoud Douma, accountant Mohamed Hassan, eng. Mohamed Al Beltagi. The defense team was led by lawyer Mokhtar Nouh .
For his part, Dr. Gamal Abdul Salam said that he was arrested during his working shift at Al-Khalifa hospital, confirming that this is the first time in which a doctor is detained during his working shift in such a disgraceful way; eng. Omar Abdullah confirmed that the state security officers took undocumented things when they arrested him; when asked by the chief prosecutor whether there is any witness, he said that prosecutor who investigated with him first is witnessed this because he demanded his ID card and the officer who detained him said that it is with him. After more than three hours investigations, and waiting for more than an hour and a half, the prosecution decided to prolong the detention of the six Muslim Brotherhood members for 15 days.
Concerning Giza detainees, the prosecution prolonged the jail of:
-Abdul Salam Bashandi (Muslim Brotherhood candidate in 2005 legislative elections for Kerdasa).
-Yahya Rizk (from Kafr Gatati, a Sharia teacher in Al-Azhar).
-Mohamed Ibrahim (Mazghona).
-Abdul Nasser Abu Al Dahab .
-Ahmed Abdul Fattah (Al-Saf)
-Hossam Shendi .
-Nasser Ramadan .
-Dr. Abdul Magid Omran (a pharmacist from Nahia).
-Dr. Alaa Muharram (ophthalmologist)
-Ahmed Abdul Wahab Dallah (teacher)
-Okasha Abbad (Muslim Brotherhood candidate in 2005 legislative elections for Mazghouna)
-Khaled Abul Magd (free business)
-Gamal Al-Ashri (Muslim Brotherhood candidate in 2005 legislative elections for Boulaq Al-Dakrour constituency)
-Mohamed Farouk (from Talibiya)
At Al Fayum, the state security prosecution released Mostafa Atiya, accountant, for health reasons and prolonged the detention of 9 others:
-Saad Mahmoud (engineer, general manager in the ministry of irrigation)
-Ahmed Ibrahim Bayyoumi (accountant)
-Ahmed Fouad Beltagi (radiologist)
–Gamal Abdul Fattah (engineer and Manager of the drinking water facility in Etsa)
-Mohamed Radwan (accountant)
-Mahmoud Sayed Abdul Razek (teacher)
-Azmi Ahmed Abdul Tawwab (accountant )
-Ayman Qorani Mohamed (employee )
-Mohamed Hashem Hassan (treasurer of the Technicians Syndicate)
prolonging the detention was issued against other detainees who were arrested by the Egyptian security services during a crackdown on Thursday dawn Feb. 15, 2007 against the Muslim Brotherhood, arresting dozens from several governorates, including Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Sharqiya, Gharbiya, Monofiya, Al Fayyum, Behera and Al-Qalyubia; the detainees include previous MB candidates in 2005 legislative elections in addition to office managers of current Muslim Brotherhood MPs.
