Jewish settlers annex Palestinian land south of Nablus
NABLUS, — Jewish settlers from Eli settlement south of Nablus started to bulldoze Palestinian land near their settlement on Thursday without prior notice, eyewitnesses reported.
They said that similar expansion works were seen in the nearby Shilo and Shvut Rahel settlements.
Meanwhile, more than a thousand extremist settlers stormed the Nabi Yusuf tomb in Nablus city at dawn Thursday escorted by a large number of Israeli army soldiers.
Local sources said that the settlers arrived in buses as the Israeli military sealed off the eastern suburbs of the city and those adjacent to the tomb.
They said that the settlers performed rituals before withdrawing by sunset.
Young men in the area threw stones at the settlers and the soldiers who responded by firing gas bombs and rubber bullets. No casualties were reported.
