Jordan: IAF Party Leaders Tender Their Resignations
Secretary General and Members of the Executive Office of the Islamic Action Front (IAF), the political wing of the MB in Jordan, tendered their resignations after an agreement was reached between the party’s figures to elect a new leadership for the party that doesn’t include the resigned members for the remaining period of the current term which ends on March 2010.
The Shura Council of the MB in
In his statement to Al-Jazeera’s website, the resigned Secretary General Zaki Bani Irsheid said that their resignation “came as a consecration of the shura principle in the Islamic movement”.
Irsheid further stressed that the yielding of all points of view to the shura institution “proves the strength of the shura institution in the Islamic movement, and the failure of bets on splits taking place within the movement made by some parties,” refusing to mention the names of these parties.
MB Shura Council sources in Jordan said that an agreement had been reached to choose Former Secretary General Dr. Ishac Al-Farhan as the new Secretary General for the remaining period of the current term for the IAF Executive Office.
