Jordan’s IAF Chief: We Demand Int’l, Domestic Supervision On Elections
The IAF in Jordan declared that it may boycott the Municipal elections and withdraw its candidates from some constituencies due to the government’s violations ahead of the elections.
The Islamic movement in Jordan declared that it may boycott the Municipal elections and withdraw its candidates from some constituencies under the government’s violations in the elections’ registry process the elections in a number of municipalities topped by Az Zarqa City and a number of constituencies in Amman.
For his part, Zaki Bin Arshid, the secretary-general of the Islamic Action Front Party in Jordan, said that the government has committed a number of serious violations, including pressuring on candidates, attempting to mobilizing the public to support pro-government candidates. add to the intervention of military institution in election and for the first time in the Jordanian history, Jordanian army elements participate in the Municipal elections. These are the main reasons for threatening with boycotting the Jordanian municipal elections .
Bin Arshid said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that the Jordanian government does not pay any attention to popular demands. It is caring only for the Western, US and European demands. He confirms that the government isn’t expected to respond to the threat of boycotting the elections.
“The government the only party benefiting from bullying committed against IAF’s candidates. “
He pointed out to Ikhwanweb that bullying has been committed against the candidates, topped by detentions against citizens and initiating a number of unjustified quarrels in mosques under supervision of the Jordanian authorities that protect rioters.
The IAF leader demanded finally a domestic and international supervision on the elections to to resist the government’s expected rigging and other violations.
