Journalist Ahmed Ezzuddin Suffers Slipped Disc in Prison

Journalist Ahmed Ezzuddin, the editor-in-chief of the Egyptian Al Shaab newspaper and Kuwaiti Al-Mujtamaa magazine had a slipped disc inside Tora prison .
 
Ikhwanweb was informed that Ahmed Ezzuddin, 53 years, is suffering from a deteriorating health inside Tora farm prison and he was carried, on Wednesday, on hands to appear before the prosecution that prolonged his jail for 15 days without taking into consideration his deteriorating health.
 
Ahmed Ezzuddin was arrested amid a crackdown that included many Muslim brotherhood leaders on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 , as part of the so called case of Al-Azhar students.
Ahmed Ezzuddin is one of the most prominent journalists who faced corruption, specially the corruption of Deputy Prime Minister and ex- Minister of Agriculture Youssef Wali. He who was referred to the Criminal Court and was thrown behind bars several times due to his patriotic and national attitudes .
 
Ahmed Ezzuddin was the editor-in-chief of the Kuwaiti weekly magazine Al-Mujtamaa for seven years; after returning to Egypt , he worked as an editor-in-chief for the weekly Al Shaab newspaper and he was the one who developed, in 2000, its web site WWW.Alshaab Com
 
Press Syndicate ’s Freedoms Committee denounces detaining Ezz Al-Din
 
For its part, the freedoms committee in the Egyptian Press Syndicate condemned arresting journalist Ahmed Ezzuddin, confirming his detention is politically motivated, because he did not commit any offence.
 
The committee said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb, that: this detention is a flagrant injustice on honored and respected persons”, pointing out that it took place under the emergency law and martial laws which heave been imposed on the Egyptians for more than 25 years.
 
The committee confirmed that the Press Syndicate decided to take quick steps to have Ezz Al-Din released, through making the press syndicate chairman contact the attorney general.
 
Ikhwanweb.com holds the Egyptian government fully accountable for the deteriorating health of Mr. Ahmed Ezzuddin and it demands immediately carrying out the required medical examinations in addition to releasing him because he committed no offence.
