Katatni: FJP is Ready for Legislative Elections; Opposition Fears Popular Will
Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Chairman, confirmed that the party is perfectly ready for parliamentary elections even today.
This came during the second forum for FJP youth in Menoufia, which is held over Friday and Saturday at Education City under the title: ‘Youth and Nahda (Renaissance) of Egypt’, attended by more than 200 FJP youths as well as Dr. Ashour Halawani, FJP-Menoufia Secretary; and Ahmed Imam, FJP-Menoufia Youth Secretary.
With regard to upcoming parliamentary elections, Dr. Katatni affirmed that there is coordination on individual (independent) seats between the FJP and the ‘Construction and Development’, Wassat and Hadara parties.
On the subject of Iranian Shi’ism, Katatni said: "Some of the countries we deal with do not believe in God at all. Why be afraid of Iran? Egyptians are not so naive to accept Shi’ism. Nevertheless, dubious political forces exploit the issue of Iran for electoral purposes.
"Some opposition forces are certain of failure through the ballot-box, which completely terrorize them. We totally condemn the violent acts committed in most of their demonstrations."
Dr. Katatni also revealed that the opposition demanded the removal of Muslim Brotherhood government ministers, after realizing that their success in their respective ministries increases the chances of the Muslim Brotherhood and the FJP in the next House of Representatives vote.
