Katatni: FJP Opts Out of “Return to Barracks” Friday Protest

In a statement, Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, Secretary-General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) stressed that the party will not participate in this Friday’s demonstrations.

The FJP Secretary-General called upon all parties, political forces, youth movements and all the participants in the Friday "Return to Barracks" protest to put the interests of Egypt first, well ahead of their own, and urged all to rise above personal interests and to protect and maintain the gains of this revolution.

Dr. Katatni also urged the Military and the Cabinet to quickly pass legislation to effect appropriate political isolation of the dissolved National Party’s figures and ban them from participating in politics for ten years.

Furthermore, Dr. Katatni called upon officials to have a clear vision for the management the next historical stage in the country, which must be geared towards stability, and to set a timetable that rules out any postponement of the elections and ends the transitional period as soon as possible, so the nation can move to the state-building phase and lay the foundations for the development and progress sought by all honest people in Egypt.
