Katatni nominates himself and challenges Sorour for the Presidency of the Peoples Assembly.

Assembly in The Muslim Brotherhood Parliamentary bloc has announced that it will nominate candidates to elections for various positions. MB bloc leader Dr Saad Katatni is expected to run for the President of the Egyptians People Assembly.
Other MB candidates include Dr Ali Fath el-Bab and Alaa Abdul Monem. Despite their belief that the elections results are well known and that chairs have been allotted the MB bloc chose to practice their democratic rights in running for the elections which are scheduled for Wednesday November 11, Katatni asserted in a statement to “Ikhwanonline”.
Candidates from the NDP include, Dr Zeinab Radwan and Abdul Aziz Mustafa.
Parliaments worldwide allocate places for any opposition that has won close to 25% of the parliamentary seats. However in Egypt all seats have bee occupied by the members of the NDP.
Katatni stated that by entering the elections a clear message is sent to the leading party that the MB will continue to fight for their cause which is the advocating of democracy and freedom of rights. He added “We hope that the NDP will stand down and only assume official seats if they have been won through fair, free and transparent elections”.
