Khudari: The uprising of ships to be renewed by int’l relief foundations
GAZA, — MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, stated Saturday that different Turkish and European humanitarian organizations agreed in Istanbul to revive the uprising of aid boats sent to the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a press release, Khudari said that the Free Gaza Movement and the Turkish IHH humanitarian relief foundation as well as other European and Turkish institutions created a partnership to help Gaza and decided to renew the movement of aid convoys to Gaza by sea.
The lawmaker emphasized that this cooperation would give the sea convoys a logistic and technical boost.
He noted that a convoy of 10 to 20 boats including Malaysian, Turkish and European ships will set sail for Gaza in late April or early May according to weather conditions and technical arrangements.
The lawmaker expressed special thanks to head of IHH Bülent Yard?m and Free Gaza coordinator Huwaida Aref as well as the owner of the first two ships sent to Gaza for their active role in renewing the uprising of aid boats.
Many of solidarity convoys had been sent to Gaza by sea, but a few managed to arrive in while many others were prevented by Israel from reaching their destination especially after its devastating war on the Strip.
