Khudari calls for practical steps to end the siege

GAZA, — MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular anti siege committee, welcomed the statement by John Holmes, the UN coordinator of humanitarian affairs, that demanded an end to the siege on Gaza.

Khudari, in a press release on Wednesday, asked for practical steps on the part of the world community to lift that siege, noting that all foreign officials visiting the Strip warn of the serious conditions and call for breaking the siege but no concrete steps are taken.

He said that the UN should pressure Israel to lift the siege and open all crossings to allow entry of basic life necessities and construction material into the beleaguered Strip.

The Palestinian people hope that the foreign officials and human rights groups would adopt a courageous position to end the suffering of one and a half million Palestinians living in Gaza, the "biggest prison in the world".
