Lawyers Worry Over Receivership
In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Mr. Gamal Tag El Din (spokesperson of the Committee o Islamic Shariah at the Bar Association) said that the Bar is waylaid and that some lawyers will not be satisfied by the participation of the Committee in the elections and may file contests calling for putting the Bar under the control of judicial receiver.
He added that elections issue has not been yet settled and that corrupt legislation and defected laws tailored by the government basically aim at impeding election process to apply receivership.
He explained that the government failed to confront lawyers, so it opened nomination swiftly lest the lawyers might be agitated on the “Anger Day” scheduled to be held last Tuesday November 11th. Because such a day would have gathered massive numbers of lawyers from different political trends along with media momentum and, accordingly, government would not stand these pressures.
Recently, the Bar Association was controlled by judicial receiver and is expected to remain in this status unless lawyers would unite their efforts and views against judicial receivership.
