MB Detained At Student Honoring Party

MB Detained At Student Honoring Party

The State Security authorities on Wednesday 13, 2006, arrested three Muslim Brothers at Abu Hammad, Sharqeya, north of Egypt, while they were holding a rally for honoring students who succeeded with high marks at the recent academic year. The three MB members organized a rally at the village mosque for this purpose, but the security men there rejected holding of this rally in the mosque, so the organizers of the rally decided to hold it outside the mosque.  The rally was applauded by the people who happily participated and thanked the MB youth for this rally. But the state security forces were not happy, so they stormed the homes of the youth at night and detained them without even observing the rules of conduct not to mention the rules of law. They also confiscated the detainees’ properties and took them to unknown places, and the detainees haven’t been referred to prosecution till now. In the same context, the Alexandria security forces arrested two Muslim Brotherhood members  on Tuesday 12 2006, while they were distributing prizes for honoring students who succeeded in a Koran contest organized by two Ikhwan MPs at Mina el Basal neighborhood, Alexandria. As the townspeople insisted on attending the Koran contest rally, the security men waited until the end of the rally then arrested the two MB members. In comment of this and other incidents, MB Parliamentary Bloc Spokesman Dr. Hamdy Hassan criticized the way used by the security agencies in handling peaceful meetings and rallies, wondering how the security forces are put on alert to crush social services offered by civilians. He lamented that the security forces don’t stop at detaining the organizers of such charity works but they also detain anyone with a role in any MB sponsored social activities to scare people into avoiding dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood, “ But they don’t take such measures when the rally is organized by a ruling  National Party member”, he said .
