MB Extends Condolences to Egyptians over Maspero Killings

The Muslim Brotherhood’s (MB) media spokesman, Dr. Mahmoud Ghozlan, expressed deepest condolences to Egyptians, Muslims and Copts, over the bloody clashes that took place Sunday night in downtown Cairo between the military and protesters.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Ghozlan called for restraint from all sides and urged open dialogue take place between both parties. "Violence is an unacceptable means either by protesters or security and military authorities," he said.

There was no need for the peaceful protests to metamorphose into violent clashes, he said, adding that both the Muslims and Copts were facing problems during this critical phase and by no means is escalating the problem a solution to these problems. "We must all stay united at this critical period," he said.

Ghozlan called on all protesters to pursue legal channels and open dialogue and to abstain from engaging in violence. "Under no circumstances should violence and aggression be a solution. Furthermore we must all participate in the upcoming phase to shift Egypt from a transitional phase to a stable democracy," he stressed.
