MB MP Inquires about Banning of Satellite Channel

Mohsen Radi (member of the MB parliamentary bloc and member of the Culture, Information and Tourism Committee) has submitted an urgent query Thursday to the Minister of Information regarding the real grounds for halting the airing of Al-Barakah TV channel without any prior notice.

Radi said that the government decided to stop the broadcast though all necessary documents were submitted by the channel officials to the General Authority for Investment.

He added in Thursday”s session that the channel officials have not been informed about any administrative or media violations during broadcast.

“The key objective of this channel is airing constructive material within the Egyptian and international legal framework and supporting the moral values as well as encouraging the investment policy which the government calls for. The channel propagates for social activities which help fight unemployment. It has never done wrong to individuals, governments, or authorities,” Rady told Ikhwanweb.

He added that banning the channel caused great losses to the channel and made more than 120 employees lose their jobs.
