MB online petition for reform exceeds half a million

The Muslim Brotherhood‘s online petition has collected over 500, 000 signatures 35 days into its launching. The MB chairman Dr. Mohamed Badie initiated the petition calling for change in their 7 demands for reform in a decision to participate collectively with political opposition who have united in an attempt to pressure the regime in complying with their demands for political reform and constitutional amendments.
 
 Among the seven points of the charter backed by the Brotherhood include:
 

1. Ending the state of emergency
2. The empowerment of the Egyptian judiciary to supervise the full electoral process as a whole.
3. Control of the elections by local civil society organizations and international levels.
4. Providing equal opportunities in the media for all candidates, especially in the presidential election.
5. Enabling Egyptians abroad to exercise their right to vote in embassies and consulates in Egypt .
6. Ensuring the right to stand in presidential elections without arbitrary restrictions in line with Egypt ‘s obligations under the International Convention for Civil and Political Rights, and limiting the right to run for the presidency to two terms.
7. Elections by individual identification social numbers and constitutional amendments to articles 76, 77 and 88.

 

Badie called on the nation to participate and become an effective element in society for Egypt ‘s wellbeing which will benefit each and every citizen. He stressed that it was up to the Egyptian people describing it as a national duty to support the campaign which calls for the elimination of corruption, the prevention of electoral fraud, the ending of torture, and the maintaining of the Egyptian citizen’s dignity at home and abroad by ending the state of emergency.
