MB strongly condemns attacks on Christians in Baghdad
The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt vehemently condemned the heinous attack on the Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad where over 60 civilians were killed and approximately 100 were critically injured, describing it as heinous. The group asserted that Islam does not advocate such violence and denounces any such actions highlighting that Islam promotes respect and sanctity to human life regardless of religion, colour or creed.
In a statement the Muslim Brotherhood stressed that the reason behind these shocking and unacceptable crimes which has killed hundreds of Iraqis including both Sunni and Shia Muslims in addition to Christians stems from the U.S. occupation, which is still present in Iraq. The group emphasized that in fact the US atrocities have been exposed and revealed where documented crimes which targeted victims, estimated to be millions have been uncovered
The group called on the Muslim Nation to protect all places of worship highlighting that it was a religious duty for all Muslims to respect its sacredness adding that any such act of violence and attacks should be stopped and its perpetrators, tried, sentenced and punished promptly. The Brotherhood rejected and criticized strongly any foolish threats to the Christian worshippers in Egypt or anywhere else.
It blamed the Egyptian State’s weakness in failing to offer stability to its people and inability to impose the law claiming it is the main reason behind the possible outbreak of strife.
