MB Students Call To Mourn Liberty At Ain Shams Today

In their conclusive statement on Student Union elections this year, Ain Shams MB students called for considering Monday, October 20 (Student Union Induction Day), the day for mourning democracy and fair elections.

In their statement, MB students also clarified that their withdrawal from elections was not out of fear from assaults or hopelessness from reform, but to give the university”s administration another chance to turn a new page through fair elections.  MB students announced that their stance was an exception, emphasizing the necessity of taking on reform using all means possible including participation in elections and affirming that they will be running for future elections.

Further, MB students expressed their disappointment in the continuance of Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr”s administration in taking away their rights, imposing orders on them, and its phobia from democracy as this year”s student elections were a repetition of the past in terms of hampering nominations, cancelling out candidates, and appointing Student Union members. Students, moreover, demonstrated that electoral fraud has become the norm in managing the election process, and that it is carried out under orders and security instruction.
