MB to Sponsor Reconciliation between Egypt’s Salafis and Sufis
Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Shura Council member Mohamed Gamal Heshmat has revealed the group’s intention to broker a reconciliation between the Salafists and the Sufis in order to avoid problems in Egypt that may destroy everything and everybody in the event of an armed conflict between the rival parties.
Heshmat told "Ikhwanweb" that a meeting on Sunday will be held between the Salafis and Sufis in the Egyptian governorate of Behira – some 80 km north of Cairo – to make a compromise between the two trends of Sunni Islam after the Alexandria meeting that was sponsored by the Ministry of Endowment to discuss points of difference for a common understanding.
It is truly a historic reconciliation that is taking place for the first time in Egypt, since Mubarak’s regime toppled as Mubarak always insisted on stirring up differences among these conflicting groups.
