MB’s Journalist Abdul Qoddous, 20 Others Arrested

The Egyptian security forces arrested journalist Mohamed Abdul Qoddous, the head of the Press Syndicate’s Freedom Committee, along with twenty others on Friday after a demonstration in Al-Azhar against the Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Mohamed Abdul Qoddous, 52, is a member in Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood group and an active member in Kifaya Movement that opposes the Egyptian regime . Abdul Qoddous is also a prominent journalist who was elected several times in the Press Syndicate.

It is worth mentioning that Mohamed Abdul Qoddous has been repeatedly beaten and tortured by the Egyptian security forces, the latest of which was during Friday’s demonstration in Al-Azhar mosque protesting at the Zionist continuous violations against Al Aqsa.

Abdul Moneim Abdul Maqsoud, the Muslim Brotherhood’s lawyer, told Ikhwanweb that Abd Al-Qoddous and 20 other detainees appeared today at dawn before the prosecution which decided to jail them for 15 days .

Abdul Maqsoud added that this measure proves again that the Egyptian regime is backtracking from the promises of political reform and freedoms.
