Minister of Culture: Intellectuals Must Denounce Dawn Massacre of Morsi Supporters

In a press statement, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Aziz, Egypt’s Minister of Culture who resigned in protest against the military coup, assures that the blood of supporters of the mechanisms of democracy in Egypt will be a curse on the heads of the coup leaders, just as the blood of martyrs of the notorious ‘Battle of the Camel’ was a curse on Mubarak’s regime until it was toppled, and just as will all the blood of the free whatever their political color remain a curse over the heads of violators of human rights and those too cowardly to object to massacres of innocent humans.

"The elite, honorable intellectuals and men of creativity bear a great responsibility before history. They should take a position biased to the principles of the glorious January 25 Revolution, denounce the massacre, which callously took the lives of men, women and children in front of the Republican Guard compound, with live bullets at the hands of ‘security’ forces.

"I renew my call for all honorable Egyptians to stand steadfast in the squares of Egypt, showing their rejection of the military coup. This coup will not last. Coup leaders will pay for it dearly."
