Mishaal to visit Kuwait
Khaled Mishaal, the political bureau chairman of the Hamas Movement, is to pay a two-day visit to Kuwait by the end of this week, a responsible source in the Movement said.
He told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that the Kuwait visit falls in line with a tour of a number of Arab and Gulf countries.
He added that Mishaal, who will be heading a senior level delegation, would brief Kuwaiti officials on latest political developments in the Palestinian arena.
The Hamas delegates would highlight the importance of lifting the siege on and reconstructing the Gaza Strip in addition to asking the Arab and Gulf countries to adopt a clear stand against the building of the steel wall by Egypt along its borders with Gaza, the source concluded.
Mishaal met on Saturday with Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad, in line with the Movement’s tour, where the president affirmed his country’s backing to efforts aimed at achieving Palestinian national reconciliation.
Assad said that reuniting Palestinian ranks is the only road toward restoring rights and facing challenges confronting the Palestine cause.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) said that the discussions also tackled the tragic conditions in the besieged Strip and efforts to end it.
Mishaal, heading a delegation, visited Yemen, Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain and is expected to visit other Arab and Islamic capitals
