Muslim Brotherhood Appeal After Grozny Conference Controversy

Muslim Brotherhood Appeal After Grozny Conference Controversy
The Muslim Brotherhood is following with deep sorrow the general state of the Muslim nation after the conference convened in the Chechen capital Grozny on August 25-27, which ignited fires of discord among Muslims around the world.

We were dismayed that the Conference escalated heated arguments and wars of words throughout the Islamic arena, which is almost slipping into an armed conflict that can be effected by a treacherous conspiracy, to fan flames already spreading onto the Arab and Islamic arena with the expansion of conspiracies against the Muslim nation succumbing to traitorous plots and evil machinations.

On these blessed days of the Holy month of Hajj, as pilgrims pursue their Journey through the rituals of this obligatory Islamic duty – the Hajj pilgrimage, which unites all Muslims, the Muslim Brotherhood calls on all parties to exercise restraint, and reminds everyone of the warning by the Messenger of Allah – Mohamed, peace be upon him – against internal strife and division among Muslims.

While a nation united in prayer in the direction of one holy place, Mecca, is now divided over some non-essential matters of understanding the faith, we remind all of God’s Command (Quran 16:125): Call people to the way of your Lord with wisdom and excellent admonition; and discuss things with people in the best manner. Your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Way; and He knows best who is rightly guided..

This is God’s Command about how we must deal with non-Muslims; we cannot ignore it when dealing with those who do not disagree with us on the Holy Quran – the Word of our Lord.

With a pained heavy heart, we pray to God, and appeal to the Muslim nation’s scholars and officials to urgently endeavor to extinguish the flames of discord. Let all the nation rally around what we agree upon. Reasoning and logical analysis can be used to scrutinize facts in a framework of brotherhood, affection and peace.

Muslim Brotherhood Deputy Leader
