Muslim Brotherhood MP’s calls on Health Committee to counter plague

The Muslim Brotherhood”s parliamentary bloc is planning to submit a number of urgently written questions to Health Minister once the parliamentary session is wrapped up today. Warnings of possible plague spreading to Egypt via Libyan borders are evident. The MB MP”s will urge the government to impose quarantine on all travelers arriving to Egypt at the Libyan borders as measures for tackling the swine flu.

Dr Jamal Qorni, of the MB parliamentary bloc and People”s Assembly health committee, called on the government not to neglect the possibility of plague while engaging in tackling the Swine and bird flu as it poses a threat beyond what is caused by influenza viruses. He asserted that he would call on Hamdy Al-Sayed, chairman of the Health Committee in the People”s Assembly to conduct an urgent meeting to discuss the situation and to implement the necessary measures in facing the crisis.
 
Dr. Farid Ismail, member of the PA”s Health Committee, stressed the need to exert pressure on the government urging it to take precautionary and preventative measures in an attempt to control and prevent the transmission of the disease to Egypt . He continued that it was imperative that the government work to preserve the lives and wellbeing of millions of people who are threatened by this disease.


Meanwhile, Dr. Al Khulani, Chairman of the Veterinary Association in Port Said, and member of the People”s Assembly Agriculture and Irrigation Committee asked for the strong and quick combatting of mice and fleas as they are the main carriers of the plague disease with humans coming third in line.
