Muslim Brotherhood Shura Council Debates Presidential Elections Next Tuesday

The Muslim Brotherhood’s General Shura Council convened an emergency meeting, Tuesday 27 March 2012, at the end of which it decided to postpone the group’s decision with regard to the presidential election to the Council’s meeting next Tuesday.
In a statement, the Brotherhood said that the Council reviewed current developments, and decided to hold another meeting next Tuesday 3 April 2012, at ten in the morning, to consider the developments and make a final decision about various options.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Jamal Heshmat, a member of the Brotherhood’s Shura Council, said in a statement that the decision of presidential candidates, nominations and endorsements is to be made in the Council’s meeting next week, because submitted information and studies necessitated the postponement in order to allow further study and research on this matter.
Dr. Heshmat added: "No particular names at all were discussed with regard to endorsement or support in the forthcoming presidential election; but the debate was generally about that issue".
