Muslim Brotherhood Spokesman Al-Qadi Tortured in Detention in Alexandria

The Arab African Centre for Human Rights (AACHR) said it received a complaint from the family of Anas Al-Qadi, spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood in Alexandria (currently detained at Alexandria Directorate of Security), stating that his human rights are being blatantly violated and he is suffering psychological and physical torture since his arrest last Sunday, to force him to confess to committing crimes related to terrorism and plots to topple the ruling regime.
In a statement Monday, AACHR condemned the prosecutor’s rejection of a request by the detainee’s lawyer to get him examined by the coroner to document his injuries resulting from torture and beatings he suffered at National Security headquarters.
"Anas Al-Qadi suffers heart problems. He needs special health care not available at Alexandria Directorate of Security’s headquarters where he is being detained. In fact, there is no health care of any kind at all provided to detainees there."
