Muslim Brotherhood Welcomes Qatar’s Call For Summit, Slams Countries That Rejected It
Muslim Brotherhood Chair Mohamed Mahdi Akef expressed his support for all which came in the statement of Qatari Prince Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani in his last call for an emergency Arab summit in Doha and considered it a prime duty on all Arab rulers to end the bloodshed of children, women, and elderly and crazy destruction of institutions, houses, and farms in Gaza as such a heinous crime doesn"t deserve to be discussed in a consultative meeting on the margins of an economic conference.
Akef further appreciated Qatar"s call for the necessity of Arab unification for the sake of putting an immediate end to these assaults, withdrawing Israeli forces from the strip, opening all crossings, providing all forms of assistance for the distressed in Gaza, establishing a fund for rebuilding Gaza in which Qatar initiated its contribution of 250 million dollars, ending the siege, and guaranteeing freedom of individuals and goods to move without hindrances. Akef also appreciated Qatar"s proposal calling for the suspension of Arab peace initiatives, ending naturalization with the Israeli entity, and working towards bringing those responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people before the International Court.
Akef also confirmed that despite his support of these requests, they are the least rulers should do in terms of immediate steps, and that the expectations of people far exceed these measures. These expectations include cutting gas and petroleum supply to Israel and its supporting countries as well as economically boycotting them, withdrawing Arab capital from their banks, supporting resistance by all means, and reviving the spirit of jihad within youth and preparing them for it as the enemy will never end its assaults on Arab countries and ambitions to subjugate and dominate them as long as we remain weak.
Akef also denounced the failure of a few major Arab countries, primarily Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco to accept Qatar"s call and refusal to attend the summit conference. Akef also strongly denounced the pursuit of these countries to foil the summit by inciting other countries to take their same position so that the legal threshold for holding the summit would not be reached.
Akef noted that since our defeat in 1967 we have been calling for Arab summits requesting Arab countries to offer us support through financial aid, weapons, and political support, and they all responded to these requests despite the differences and even rivalries between some of them and Egypt. Furthermore, petroleum was used as a weapon to support Egypt and Syria in the 1973 war and as a tool for pressuring the Israeli entity, so why are we abdicating our legal, national, humanitarian, and moral duties now?, Akef questioned.
Akef called on the countries that refused Qatar"s call to respond to the will of their people and take on their responsibilities as there is no time at the moment for political, dialogue approaches, and adopting our enemy"s projects, or, otherwise, the consequences upon them as rulers and upon us, our nations, and future generations will be grave, not to mention the consequences on the Day of Judgment.
On the other hand, Akef called on the countries who responded to Qatar"s call to translate the Prince"s requests into an action plan to be implemented as a part of performing their duty towards Allah followed by their people and history.
Akef also hailed the resistance in Gaza for their heroic steadfastness in the face of Israeli war machines supported by the West asserting that the blood of martyrs and pains of the wounded, displaced, and distressed are what will pave the road towards victory, liberation, and pride, by the will of God.
Akef further affirmed that the people of Gaza are not only fighting for their sanctities or right to live a free dignified life, but are also fighting for the dignity and honor of the whole nation from the occupiers and usurpers who are posing a continuous threat to the nation"s national security.
