Muslim Brotherhood’s Statement on Sectarian Violence in Iraq

Muslim Brotherhood’s Statement on Sectarian Violence in Iraq

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious
"Believers are but a signal brotherhood: so make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers." (94, 10)
Praise be to Allah, Peace be upon His Prophet Muhammad and those who follow his way…

What is going in Iraq bleed hearts and cause deep regret and sorrow. The land of the well-guided Islamic caliphate which defended the Islamic and Arabic worlds over long time, is now reupting in bloody violence.

We follow up the situation through mass media, which transmit what caused us pain and restlessness. Insightful observers can see the consequences of the mean conspiracy of the nation’s enemies against Iraqi people because of their patriotic resistance to the repulsive occupation.

The deliberately manufactured intrigue aims to put Iraq on the vent of the volcano of sectarian strife whose repercussions may extend beyond geographical and historical limits.

No wise man, a Muslim besides, imagines that Muslim sacred objects and mosques become violently targeted by Muslims themselves. No wise man can visualizes the killing of Muslims and scholars, the source of the nation’s power. Therefore, the duty entitles the Iraqi government to take rapid measures to contain, resist, and alleviate the crisis and to provide an atmosphere of security and safety for all Iraqis. No prejudice for certain sect should prevail; however, the Iraqi unity should take precedence. Now, it is necessary to form a coalition government that finds an effective mechanism to overcome the crisis.

Our duty, inside and outside Iraq, is to become unified to stop this spate of mayhem and to curb the ignorant violence that tears the Iraqi fabric. Accordingly, we urge the Arab governments to assume their role to stop this bloody mishap. In addition, we call on the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to step in to halt this violence.

While the Muslim Brotherhood closely observes the meticulous details of this critical situation, it exhorts their Iraqi Muslim brethrens, of all sects, especially the clerics and leaders, to unify themselves and cooperate for good and piety. They should call on Iraqis to be united brothers and to know that this crisis does not benefit but the wanton occupation and anti-Islam Zionists… we pray to Allah to protect Iraq from evils and to save it from explicit and implicit ordeals.
Allah is He Who Guides to the right path.
