National referendum slated March 19
March 19 has been scheduled for holding a national referendum on Egypt’s constitution.
The amendments have been drafted by a 10 man committee appointed by the military council which has been ruling since Mubarak’s ousting following nationwide protests demanding his stepping down.
The committee comprised of legal experts including the Muslim Brotherhood’s Sobhi Saleh, judges from the constitutional and other courts and university professors has outlined numerous proposals including reducing the presidential term to four years from six and suggested that the president should be elected for two terms.
