New Sweep of Arrests Against MBs in several governorates

As a part of the government’s crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood(MB) members because of the approaching of Municipal elections, The Egyptian security forces have launched a raid in the governorates of Daqahlia, Ismailia, and Beni-sweif  on Sunday dawn(Feb, 17th, 2008) in which more than 36 Muslim Brotherhood members were arrested.
 
Names of the detainees from Daqahlia:
1.     Dr. Safwat Khalil.
2.     Ahmed Othman Hegazy.
3.     Mohamed Ibrahim.
4.     Ahmed Hanafy.
5.     Sayed Mousa , MB Candidate in 2005 Parliamentary elections.
6.     Khaled Mohamed Tal’at.
7.     Yosry El-Badry.
8.     Dr. Kamel Youseff.
9.     Abdurrahman Salem.
10.   Saad Mahmoud
11.   Dr. Mostafa Shalabi.
12.   Hassan Mansour.
13.   Gamal Abul-Nasr.
14.   Shaker Ata.
15.   Mohsen Fares.
16.   Ahmed Abdul-Raouf.
 
Names of detainees from Ismailia known till now:
1.     Ahmed Ismail, MB Candidate in the Shura council elections on 2007.
2.     Magdy Abdel-Tawwab Moath.
3.     Mahmoud Mansour.
4.     Samir Al-Salama.
5.     Khaled Rashidi.
6.     Abdel-Salam, from Fayed.
7.     Khalil, from Fayed.
 
It’s noteworthy that the number of detentions in Ismailia today has exceeded 17.
 
Names of detainees from Beni-Sweif known till now are:
1.     Amer Mohamed Amer.
2.     Mohamed Tawfik.
3.     Younes Sarhan.
4.     Badr Marzouq.
5.     Gom’a Fouad.
6.     Abdul-Rahman Shokry.
7.     Mohamed Anwar El-Deeb.
8.     Abdel-Wahhab Imam.
9.     Salah Zaki.
10.   Adel Kandil.
11.   Dr. Mohamed Al-Sayed.
12.   Mohamed Allam.
13.   Farouk Abdul-Aty.
14.   Kordy Oweis.
15.   Dr. Khaled Al-Sharkawy.
 
The number of detentions is expected to increase more during the coming days. This escalation by the Egyptian authorities have begun last Thursday Feb. 14, when state security forces detained dozens of MB affiliates in dawn raids with no clear justification
