No-Fly to Dr. Al Ghazali, Denied Conference in Yemen

Egyptian State Security Police refused on Monday to allow Dr. Abdul Hamid Al Ghazali, a professor at the Faculty of Economy and Political Sciences Cairo University and a political adviser for the Muslim Brotherhood chairman, to travel to Yemen to participate in a seminar in Al-Iman University entitled “Arab Union” and to take part also in establishing the Economy department in the university. Al-Iman University President was waiting for his arrival at the airport.

For his part, Dr. Al Ghazali told Ikhwanweb that:” This a decision does not serve neither academic research nor the regime. It is a flagrant violation to the right of Egyptian citizens and professors in participating in academic conferences”. Al Ghazali pointed out that what happened is a part of the unjustified harrassments continuously practised by the regime against the Muslim Brotherhood group.

Dr. Al Ghazali added that he got a verdict in 2005 of lifting his name from the no-fly list, stressing that what happened is actually distorting the image of the Egyptian university and Egyptian society in front of others.
