No MB Candidate for Presidential Elections

No MB Candidate for Presidential Elections

A senior leader of the MB announced on Monday that the MB will not have a candidate to run for the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for November.

Former MB Chairman, Mahdi Akef, announced that the MB will not nominate a candidate to run for the upcoming presidential elections.

He commented on the nomination of Abul Fotouh from the MB, for the presidential elections saying: “Abdul Fotouh will not represent the MB in the presidential elections, however we wish him success.”

The MB has also announced that it will be running for more seats in the parliamentary elections.

The MB’s Freedom and Justice party will field candidates in about 45 to 50% of voting districts in the September elections, hoping to contest a third of the seats.

Political analysts see the MB’s announcement of increasing their candidates as a sign of increasing confidence in the people’s desire to be ruled under political Islam.
