Officer, 3 Detectives Slap Student on Nape to Paralysis

Again- Days after Ahmed Sayed Saber who was tortured inside Umraniya police station died in Al-Haram hospital- Abu Al-Numrus police station witnessed another stunning torture incident. 3 detectives and a policeman assaulted said bad names and beat student Amr Ali Al Sayed Salem, 27 years, while he was with his fiancee in a cafeteria at Shubramant, Giza .

The detectives beat and slapped the student aggressively on the nape- like the notoriously well known nape clip. He was also beaten across his body including legs and the back. Then, he was transferred after he lost consciousness to Kasr Alainy hospital and he has been in a complete coma and in a critical condition for 5 days.

Ashraf, the victim”s brother, said that his brother was assaulted last Monday while he was sitting with his fiancee in a cafeteria in the Giza neighborhood of Abu Al-Numrus, and he was severely beaten till he lost consciousness and was sent to Kasr Alainy hospital.

At 30.10 PM last Monday, my brother”s fiancee phoned me and informed me that Amr was arrested and that he was held inside Abu Al-Numrus police station for no reason. She told him that 3 plainclothes detectives and an officer camed to her and Amr and asked them to show their IDs. Both of them handed the officer their IDs. After that the officer asked Amr about the girl he is sitting with and Amr confirmed that” She is my fiancee”, after this they started kicking and insulting him ” without any reason”.

The victim”s brother added:” I went to the police station to ask about my brother but I was denied access. I tried again but I failed and a lawyer entered the police station who got out after an hour and told me that ” your brother will be released after a while”.

The victim”s brother said that his brother was paralyzed in his right leg and right hand and he can”t move. The hospital”s medical report claimed that my brother has a disease since childhood and a birth defect resulting from pressure and nervousness. This is actually not right. He submitted complaint no. 5722 Imababa police station and the prosecution opened an investigation. Also, a memo was submitted to the attorney general on Nov, 13th, 2007 . the testimony of the victim”s father and his fiancee were heard, confirming in front of the prosecution that 3 plainclothes detectives and a policeman beat her fiance Amr on the nape and legs till he lost his consciousness.
