OIC: Extremism mounts in Europe

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) today welcomed the statement issued on behalf of the German Government, in which they condemned the killing of the veiled martyr Marwa El Sherbini. The IOC considered the condemnation of this unfortunate incident as a positive sign in the development of relations between Europe and Muslims.
In a statement to Ikhwanweb, IOC officials emphasized that the murder committed inside the German court sparked Egyptian fury and raised feelings of discontent and remonstration in the whole Islamic world. It is necessary to deal with this criminal act under the emerging trend of an increasing influence exercised by radical rights in several parts of Europe, it continued.
The tragic incident, with all its derivatives, is being closely monitored and with great concern by the Islamic organization, which emphasized that it underscores the need to address the threat posed by a trend emerging in Europe towards Islamaphobia. This is a major concern, the IOC argued, as it is a form of racism.
It is imperative that Western political leaders endeavor to pave the way for tolerance and improve relationships in the continent through positive, hopeful and inspiring speeches.
