Orders To Detain Sharqiyyah MB MP, Two Students After Decisions To Release Them

The Ministry of Interior issued an order today to detain Sharqiyyah MB leader and MP for Abu Kebir district Dr. El-Sayyid Abdel-Hamid after the decision to release him in the beginning of the week and in spite of his suffering severe internal hemorrhage upon which he was transferred to the hospital for an emergency operation.

Dr. El-Sayyid Abdel-Hamid had been detained along with a group of guests at his home on August 27.

In a similar context, two students, Mahmoud El-Tawil from the Faculty of Medicine and Usama Abu Hatab from the Faculty of Agriculture, were presented before the Supreme State Security prosecution who decided to postpone their decision to the next day.

It was said that 12 students from Zaqazeeq University were detained while attending a training course titled, “Problem-solving and Decision-making Skills” that was held throughout the month of Ramadan.  They were held for 30 days despite repeated orders to release them.  Finally, the prosecution released only ten of them, while the last two remained held as they were presented before different prosecutions since they resided in more than one place.  So while the South Zaqazeeq prosecution ordered their release, on the same day they were presented to the North Zaqazeeq prosecution ordering their detention for 15 days.

The students” lawyer Abdullah El-Bahrawy confirmed that what happened was illegal in itself as it is prohibited to punish an accused person twice.
