Parliament discusses security’s meddling in Shura nominations
MP Ali Laban, of the Muslim Brotherhood bloc, submitted an urgent statement to the Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, and Interior Minister Habib El-Adly, accusing the Security Director of Gharbeya and several of his aides of deliberately hindering the nomination procedures for the upcoming Shura elections
He emphasized that the security’s continued interference in procedures during campaigns and polling would ultimately cause an uprise on the Egyptian street. He highlighted that it was important that citizens choose their representatives in the Shura Council, stressing that the continued intercession by the ruling regime’s security apparatus is a barrier in the process of true democracy and political reform
