Police Seals Cairo Entrances In Major Day of Protests In Solidarity With Palestinians

Egyptian police sealed all entrances to Cairo preventing thousands of MB supporters and ordinary Egyptians who flooded the capital to participate in major rally at the headquarters of the Arab League to express their solidarity with the Palestinians under siege in Gaza.


The security forces created several checkpoints across Cairo sepcially around underground stations and roads leading to the Arab League headquarters to block protestors from reaching their distination.


Ikhwanweb correspondents at the scene confirmed that at least 100 individual have been picked up by plain clothed police, among them 45 from Al-Fayyoum Governorate, 30 from the coastal city of Damietta, 7 from Alexandria & 6 from Al-Sharqiya Governorate east Egypt.


In a related context, Leftist activist Shahinda Maqlad (70-yrs) was detained by police after leading some  activists to Tal’at Harb Square for organizing a demonstration.


It’s worth-mentioning that the demonstration site was switched to the Egyptian Bar Association after it became impossible for protestors to break through the police barricades around the Arab League and Al-Tahrir Square.
